Description
Sweet and savory Korean BBQ beef (bulgogi) that's perfect for summer grilling or pan-frying. Marinate in the morning, cook at dinner!
Ingredients
- FOR BULGOGI:
- 1.5 lbs ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 Asian pear, grated (or 2 tablespoons sugar)
- FOR SERVING:
- 4 cups cooked rice
- Kimchi
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced cucumber
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Make marinade: Combine soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, mirin, and pear in a bowl.
- Add thinly sliced beef and massage marinade into meat. Marinate for at least 2 hours (or up to 24 hours).
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over high heat.
- Cook beef in batches (don't overcrowd!) for 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized.
- Assemble bowls: rice, bulgogi, kimchi, cucumber, lettuce.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Optional: Wrap beef in lettuce leaves with rice and kimchi for Korean BBQ experience!

Slicing Tip: Freeze beef for 30 minutes before slicing - much easier to cut thin!
