Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for marinade)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for marinade)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef: Mix sliced beef with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Let sit while you prep other ingredients (at least 10 minutes).
  2. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside. This keeps it bright green and crisp-tender!
  3. Mix sauce: Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and broth in a small bowl.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add remaining oil and garlic to the wok. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return beef and broccoli to the wok. Pour in the sauce.
  7. Add cornstarch slurry and stir for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens and coats everything.
  8. Serve immediately over rice while it's piping hot!
